Tashi Lhazom is an Indigenous climate justice activist, academician and filmmaker dedicated to protecting the lands, cultures, and rights of Nepal’s marginalised communities. Recognized by Nepal’s president as one of the nation’s most prominent climate advocates, she has spent over a decade amplifying Indigenous voices in environmental justice.
As an advisor and board member of many youth led societies, Tashi empowers Indigenous youth to reclaim their narratives and lead climate action. Her award-winning documentary, No Monastery, No Village, captured the urgent struggle to preserve her homeland’s fragile ecosystems, language, and traditions—earning national and international acclaim. A bold advocate for Indigenous sovereignty, she has influenced national discourse, securing government recognition for her people’s distinct identity.
With unwavering commitment, Tashi continues to fight for a future where Indigenous wisdom guides climate solutions—where mountains, rivers, and cultures are not just preserved, but thrive.
We respectfully acknowledge that this summit takes place on the ancestral lands of the Indigenous peoples of Sarawak, including the Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, and Malay communities. We honour their enduring connection to this land, their cultures, and their traditions, and recognise their continued contributions to the richness of Sarawak's heritage.
