Chef Achang Libat is a Sarawakian chef celebrated for his innovative approach to local cuisine, combining traditional flavours with modern techniques and global culinary influences. Of Kayan and Lun Bawang heritage, he brings a deep respect for his cultural roots into every dish, creating experiences that are both authentic and contemporary. Achang trained in Kuala Lumpur before continuing his culinary education in Sydney, where he gained experience at prestigious establishments such as Guylian Chocolate Café and Balcon by Tapavino, a Spanish tapas restaurant. After honing his skills abroad, he returned to Kuching in 2019 to share his distinctive culinary vision with his local community. His culinary style is highly experimental, drawing inspiration from local ingredients, stories, and traditions to craft unique and artistic dining experiences. Through his work, Chef Achang not only elevates Sarawakian cuisine but also celebrates the rich cultural diversity of Borneo, inspiring diners to connect with the heritage and innovation behind each creation.
