Hafizan’s work centres on understanding how individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds learn, interact, and solve problems collaboratively, drawing on sociocultural perspectives of learning. His research explores the ways in which culture, context, and shared experiences shape learning processes and group dynamics. He complements this scholarly focus with extensive hands-on experience in managing student-led initiatives, international mobility programmes, community outreach, sustainability projects, and digital learning initiatives. Through these efforts, he has worked closely with students and partners to create meaningful learning environments that extend beyond the classroom. Hafizan currently serves as Deputy Dean (Student Affairs & Alumni) at the Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). In this role, he supports student development, engagement, and leadership, while strengthening alumni relations and institutional networks. His work reflects a strong commitment to fostering inclusive, collaborative, and impactful learning ecosystems that empower students to thrive in diverse and evolving global contexts.
