Hilda Flavia Nakabuye, Ugandan climate activist and founder of Uganda's Fridays for Future movement, is recognized for her advocacy and leadership in environmental rights. Awarded the Women Have Wings 2022 Award, she champions gender equality and racial diversity within the climate movement. She prioritizes Lake Victoria's preservation and empowers women through sustainable farming and educational outreach. Hilda utilizes social media to raise awareness of climate change. Leading Africa's largest youth movement with over 50,000 members across schools and universities, her activism garners international attention, featured in BBC News, Guardian, Vox, and Time. She speaks at global events like COP28, United Nations General Assembly and coordinates youth perspectives at international conferences. Hilda's impact extends beyond awards; her organization received the Human Rights Award for the French Republic, Liberty, Equity, and Fraternity in 2023. Currently, she leads a campaign opposing the East African crude oil pipeline construction in Uganda and Tanzania.
