Multimedia Journalist & Human-Centred Environmental Storyteller
Izzy Sasada is a multimedia journalist whose work focuses predominantly on our evolving relationship with the natural world. She specialises in telling human-centred environmental stories across a range of platforms, including print, digital, and video. Her written work has been published in The Guardian, Mongabay, and other outlets, while her film work includes contributions to productions for Earthrise Studio, Al Jazeera English, and The Economist Films.
While at Earthrise Studio, Izzy produced a number of short-form video explainers, exploring the climate crisis, which collectively garnered millions of views across social media platforms. Her journalism has taken her to remote and often challenging environments—from investigating the impacts of trophy hunting on communities in the Kalahari Desert, to reporting on illegal gold mining operations in the Peruvian Amazon.
Izzy holds a First-Class degree in Anthropology and English Literature from Durham University. She brings a nuanced, interdisciplinary perspective to her storytelling, combining academic rigour with compelling narrative techniques. Through her work, she seeks to illuminate the human dimensions of environmental change and to amplify the voices of those most affected.
