World-renowned changemaker and speaker Melati Wijsen has opened the stage for President Barack Obama at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, moderated National Geographic’s Sustainability Week in Bangkok, and recently published her first book, Change Starts Now, with HarperCollins. Since founding Bye Bye Plastic Bags at the age of twelve, Melati has been driven by a passion for environmental education, policy change, and youth empowerment. Her accomplishments span global platforms: she has spoken at the United Nations, co-chaired the World Economic Forum’s GPAP Committee, and served on the inaugural Expert Advisory Panel for the Earthshot Prize. Her film, Bigger Than Us, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, further amplifying her message of collective action and sustainability. Building on over a decade of advocacy, Melati continues to share the insights she has gained since childhood through her company YOUTHTOPIA, engaging audiences in classrooms, boardrooms, and on the world stage.
